What if I'm not flexible?
Worrying about your level of flexibility should never frighten you or prevent you from coming to yoga. Come to a class. Try until you find your right class. Then you'll begin to find your personal "edge", and enjoy 100% of yoga's benefits.
Is it a cardiovascular workout and can I lose weight?
No matter what your level of fitness, you will find Bikram and any Vinyasa yoga classes very challenging. With persistence, patience and dedication, you can lose inches and develop muscle tone and strength that might never come from other forms of exercise. More importantly, you will understand that yoga gives you the body you were meant to have.
What are some of the benefits?
Yoga offers unlimited benefits to you throughout your life--from exuberant health and mental clarity to lasting joy. Yoga is a means of manifesting your highest potential: physical, mental, and spiritual. With regular practice, you become more fully alive, more focused, more yourself.
Why the heated room?
The room is intentionally heated to warm your muscles and allow you to work more deeply, yet safely. The heat prevents and heals injuries. Heat also promotes sweating, which flushes toxins from the body. It's one of those things you have to experience to know how great it feels!
How do I get started?
According to Woody Allen, showing up is 90%. For most classes you simply wear what feels comfortable and allows you to move freely. You bring a yoga mat, a beach towel, and water. If you don't have these items, you can buy or rent them at our studios. Come at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the class you've selected. That way you can get signed in and oriented before class starts. Don't be shy; everyone at the studio was once the "new kid on the block".
